The first PD incinerator model from Haat was designed a few decades ago, but the current version is still chosen by users because of its many unique features.
The model PD incinerator is exclusively designed for disposal of Type 4 waste, consisting of:
Human and animal remains – made up of carcasses, organs and solid organic waste from hospitals, laboratories, abattoirs, animal pounds and similar sources with up to 85% moisture and 5% incombustible solids and having a heat value of 1,000 btu/lb as fired. The wastes covered include human anatomical waste including human tissues, organs and body parts, carcasses, bleeding parts, fluids, microbiology and biotechnology waste, cultures, stocks and specimens of micro-organisms, live or attenuated vaccines, human and animal cell culture, infectious agents, wastes from production of biologicals, toxins, dishes and devices, discarded medicines and cytotoxic drugs and solid waste including contaminated blood, body fluids, cotton dressings, soiled plaster casts, linens, beddings and other materials.
The applications for this model are found extensively in:
• Hospitals, Nursing Homes and Clinics for disposal of contaminated dressings, soiled plastic disposables, carcasses, organs, solid organic wastes, etc.
• Biological and Pharmaceutical Research Labs for disposal of tissue and plant culture, animal cadavers and outdated drugs
• Municipal Corporations for the disposal of civic waste like garbage
• Port Trusts and Road Transport Corporations for the disposal of garbage and canteen waste
• Canteens, Hotels and Wedding Halls for the disposal of vegetable and food waste
• Poultry farms, Hatcheries, Zoological Parks and Animal Houses for the disposal of eggs, dead birds, carcasses, etc.
Construction:
• The PD is of cylindrical design, ruggedly built of welded and bolted steel construction.
• It is lined throughout with insulating castable, followed by low cement, high alumina refractory concrete on the hot face. This gives the incinerator internal protection against high operating temperatures at the same time maintaining a high temperature in the chamber thru radiation and providing a very good insulation to the metal body.
• Flanged sections are sealed by gaskets.
• Provision of a large loading door with counterweight for ease of charging and removal of ash residue.
The PD model incinerator is made with very good quality fabrication in mind, lined with a special castable refractory with stainless
First of all, it is a very simple design and easy to operate. No visible smoke will come out of the stack if the right kinds of wastes are loaded. Its operating cost is very low compared to many other models and makes due to its unique design. It is practically maintenance free. It can be skid-mounted making most of the installation work completed in our shop and also making it suitable for transporting to any location.
The unique design of the incinerator permits use of a single burner both for primary and secondary burning. This is advantageous because it saves a considerable amount of fuel and will consume 60% lesser fuel that other conventional design incinerators. It is a front loading type. The heavy charging door can be lifted easily because of the counterweight provided for the same. Waste is charged `little and often`, i.e. once in 15 minutes 25% of the rated capacity is loaded through the charging door.
The incinerator has two chambers. Waste is loaded and burnt in the primary chamber and the products of combustion flow across the hearth into a secondary after-burn chamber. As mentioned earlier, it is a unique design, where the waste is burnt in the primary chamber and the products of combustion flow across the hearth into the secondary chamber. The flue gas passes thru the core of the burner flame and travel across the primary chamber for recirculation, providing for extended dwell time of the gases before emission. This helps in complete destruction of suspended carbon particulates, smoke, fumes and odour.
The PD model incinerator is available in different capacities ranging from 20 kg/h to 200 kg/h and there is an impressive list of users in India and abroad who use the PD model.
