Incinerator for Fertilizer Plant

There was a requirement that came to us suddenly from out of the blue through a telephone call from an engineering company in the UAE with an RFQ for an incinerator system.  This was for a chemical and fertilizer factory. After several rounds of technical bid evaluation and discussions over the phone, the client froze our offer for model CDR with wet venturi scrubber.

The application for the system was the same as in IFFCO Aonla and Phulpur in India where 2 of our incinerators have been working for the past 12 years.  It was, therefore, easy for us to go through the process of design, drawing approval from the client, documentation, etc. without any hitch.  The entire system was to be skid mounted and there was third party inspection as well as client inspection as part of the incinerator FAT.

The CDR incinerator was to be supplied for a complex CO2 recovery plant in a chemical and fertilizer factory of approximately 2200 tons per day of ammonia and approximately 4000 tons per day of urea.  The plant was set up for the purpose of recovering CO2 from the primary reformer flue gas so as to make up for the shortage of CO2 and to keep up to the production of 4000 tons per day of urea. The fuel gas used here was natural gas.

The technology for the CO2 recovery plant was based on proprietary technology from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Limited with strict compliance required for documentation, quality and

specifications.

The waste was a liquid containing KS-1 solvent and H2O accounting for 53% and organic compounds 32%.  The waste had calorific value of 3400 cal/g.  The equipment configuration offered was as follows:

Incinerator model CDR of capacity 35 kg/h

• Liquid waste storage system

• Liquid waste feeding system

• Primary incinerator chamber

• Secondary chamber

• FD fan

• Fuel gas burners

• Saturator

• Venturi

• Mist eliminator

• Emergency stack

• ID fan

• Skid

• 30-m self-supported chimney

• PLC, LCP, MCC panel and HMI

Drawings were submitted and after several revisions, approved by the engineering company Descon on behalf of the customer and we took up of the production of the system.  The machine was fabricated, refractory lined and kept ready for inspection by the client, who arrived and inspected the same and gave his approval for dispatch. The client was quite happy with the quality of the components, fabricated items and in general all parts of the equipment.

Subsequent to the equipment reaching the site, we sent a team of commissioning engineers to complete the commissioning work which was done on time.

We are happy to be associated with yet another chemical and fertilizer plant particularly for CO2 recovery application.

Testimonials.

“The system fully meets the requirements of the Central Pollution Control Board’s guidelines for Hazardous Waste Incinerators.” – SMR Prasad, GM (Environment Management), JSW Steel.
