Marine Incinerator

International Maritime Organization (IMO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations, with headquarters in London and a membership of 168 nations. The IMO deals with various aspects of the regulation of international commercial shipping and a wide variety of technical matters. IMO, among other things, encourages the control and prevention of marine pollution. It has the power to enforce and administer matters relating to these aims.

The IMO`s Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) has formulated regulations for the prevention of pollution by garbage and sludge oil from ships into the sea.  Shipping lines, cruise ships, tankers, Coast Guards, Navy, etc. have to strictly follow these regulations.

MEPC.244(66) specifies  standard specifications for incinerators and the manufacturers of incinerators have to comply with these standards for shipboard incinerators and procurement of such systems is allowed only from manufacturers who are certified by a reputed classification society.

The European Community`s Marine Equipment Directive (MED) 96/98/EC seeks to harmonize the uniform implementation of IMO standards and procedures for approval of all marine equipment. Annexure A-1/2-7 of the MED covers IMO type approval of Marine Incinerators.

Haat Incinerators is, perhaps, the only incinerator company in India to be certified Type Approval - MED B & D certificate (IMO) by DNV-GL Norway for its range of Marine Incinerators.

The range is fairly large from 200 KW to 2400 KW. Larger capacities can be offered against specific requirement. The standard SWR Marine Incinerator has many special features:

                 It is skid-mounted and portable

                 It is fully automatic

It handles both solid and liquid wastes (which means garbage/food waste and waste oil)

It has low running cost as it utilises the waste oil itself as a fuel mostly

It is not only certified but has proven its worth by working non-stop in some installations

The incinerator, waste oil tank, diesel tank, control panel, fan, piping, cabling and instruments are all mounted within the skid

It has a PLC panel and HMI for ease of operation and control

It has low skin temperature on the machine because of its jacketed design.

Haat, backed by more than 20 years of experience in the manufacture, operation and maintenance of incinerators, has added the SWR Marine Incinerator to its range for the benefit of the shipping industry.
