Incinerator for Oil and Gas applications

Incinerator for Oil and Gas applications

It is with considerable pride we say that HAAT was chosen by some of the leading Oil and Gas Drilling Companies in the world for installing our incinerator packages / incinerators in their sites.  Their trust in Haat has been more than fulfilled, in the sense that many of these incinerator packages / incinerators are still working for over 10 years.

We proudly present a list of these prestigious installations:

1.      National Iranian Oil Co. Ltd. (NIOCL), Azadegan oil drilling site:

The EPC contractor for NIOCL in Tehran chose Haat, with approval from NIOCL, in the year 2008 for installation of a 600 kg/h solid waste incinerator along with a scrubber and chimney with PLC controlled operation for handling camp waste in the Azadegan Oil Drilling region.  The system had to comply with safety regulations such as Zone-II hazardous area classification and had to be inspected and approved by NIOCL inspectors before acceptance.  Our scope included supervision of installation and commissioning. After supply and delivery of the equipment, our team reached the site and completed the task successfully living in a 20’ container for at least 40 days in the desert.  NIOCL inspectors completed their inspection and gave the green signal for initiating the incinerator into an array of equipment at the site and the system has been working since.

2.      Hyundai Heavy Industries, Myanmar Oil Drilling Site:

EPC contractor, Hyundai Heavy Industries, chose HAAT for installing a very high-end incinerator package at the Myanmar Oil Drilling Site, again for camp waste rated for use in Zone 2.  Although this was a considerably smaller size system compared to NIOCL, everything was high-end such as redundancy in instrumentation and PLC, stainless steel cable trays, hazardous area rated motors and Emerson instruments and so on.  The entire system was skid-mounted and FAT was done in front of three independent external inspection agencies.  We give here a comment by one of the overseas inspectors after seeing the machine “I never thought India produces such quality incinerators”.  The system was again commissioned by our team in Myanmar successfully and handed over to the end-user.

3.      Reliance Industries KGD6, Andhra Pradesh, India:

Krishna Godavari basin is a pari–cratonic passive margin basin in India, spread across more than 50,000 square kilometers in the Krishna Godavari river basins.  This site is known for the D6 Block where Reliance Industries discovered the biggest natural gas reserve in India in 2002.  Since then others also joined the exploration efforts.  One special feature of this KGD6 Block is that 14 Trillion Cubic feet of gas was discovered at 6000 feet below the sea bed.  It was quite challenging to take up the drilling for gas at a depth of almost 2 kilometers below the sea bed.

Under the circumstances the incinerator package that was required to dispose of hydrocarbon condensate had to meet very stringent specifications.

After several rounds of evaluations, discussions and negotiations Reliance chose HAAT in this very prestigious project in the year 2007. The manufacture of the incinerator, refractory lining, painting, etc. were subjected to regular and periodic inspection.

Aker Kvaerner was their consultant and Bechtel were their Project Managers.

This again was a skid mounted system complying with all the safety standards and requirements of hazardous area zone 2.  This project kept us on our toes until commissioning, but it also provided us a very good overall experience, particularly the attention to detail, the `hold` points` enforced strictly by the inspectors both at our end as well as at our sub-vendors’  to ensure quality of the end product,  expediting production and delivery and meeting the requirement of all the engineering standards.

The project was completed in time and commissioning also done to the satisfaction of all.  The client is very happy with the system that has been functioning for the last 12 years.

4.      Cairn Energy, Barmer Oil and Gas Field, Rajasthan, India:

L&T were awarded the contract as an EPC contractor by Cairn Energy for this project.  While HAAT had been privileged to be associated with the Reliance KGD6 project, it was again another challenge with regard to Barmer.   Where the drilling in KGD6 was deep sea, this incinerator was in the desert.  Nevertheless all the safety requirements had to be met. We had very stringent quality and in-process checks by L&T from time to time.  This project was also completed in time.  The system was supplied and commissioned in 2011/12.

5.      Gazprom, Iraq:

It was now the turn of one of the largest EPC contractors in the world – Petrofac, from the Middle East, to choose us for this particular project in Iraq which was only 5 kilometers away from our installation in Iran.  We had to compete here with global companies in terms of quality, delivery and price, which we did successfully. The contract was given to us in the year 2015 and the incinerator was supplied in the same year.  The incinerator was commissioned by Petrofac without our having to go to Iraq, through video conferences and telephone calls.  Commissioning was done and the system is working satisfactorily since then.

6.      DNO Yemen:

We supplied two incinerator systems to DNO Yemen, who were drilling for oil in remote parts of Yemen.  The sites were Tasour – CPF and Nabrajah – CPF. The waste was used oil  and other general waste. The two incinerators were supplied in the year 2007 and subsequently commissioned by our team.

7.      GAIL, Pata, India:

This was not a gas drilling site, but GAIL, Pata was the first land-locked, gas based, petrolchemical complex in India. Against stiff competition, Haat won the contract for supply of an incinerator system to dispose of activated carbon, which was a process waste. The incinerator, of course, had to meet all the standards as applicable to Zone 2 because of the presence of gas in the entire zone.

The system was supplied and installed in the year 2008 and has been working satisfactorily since.

The continued presence of Haat in these global, oil producing locations, makes us feel confident that Haat’s incinerator packages / incinerators are second to none in terms of quality and performance, combining safety in operation.
