We did 3 projects in the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius, of which we would like to talk about the first.
This was a Haat model LRD 300 incinerator supplied to the Port authorities in Mauritius for disposal of onshore disposal of waste from ships. This system was supplied and commissioned in the year 2010.
The LRD incinerator is a multiple waste handling system because of its excellent design and features. It handles practically all types of wastes including MSW, bio-medical, hazardous wastes, etc. and additionally liquid waste also. Some of its salient features are given below:
• Firstly, it is of modular construction, by which we can add more modules, if required, to upgrade to a higher residence time.
• Secondly, it is lined with a customized refractory which has a life expectancy of 10 to 15 years minimum. This, therefore, gives the entire incinerator a really long life.
• Thirdly, it is provided with a ram loader for automatic waste feeding. Manual intervention and incidents/accidents occurring on account of this are fully eliminated.
• Fourthly, when it comes to the entry of flue gas to the secondary chamber, the direction of travel of the flue gas changes because the secondary chamber itself is placed tangential to the
This incineration system has been in operation for nearly 10 years and the customer is provided regular service and spares by our Associates in Mauritius.
The LRD incinerator is really one-for-all types of wastes with good performance and longevity.
