We received a call the other day for information on an incinerator for an unusual application.
It was unusual because we never made one for `human waste`. The question is why anyone would want an incinerator for this application?
When we met the buyer face to face, all the reasons unfolded.
This was required by the Army for use by soldiers in remote areas, where there are no toilet facilities with regular water supply. Moreover in these remote areas, the climatic condition was such that there is sub-zero temperature most of the time. There is no way human waste would decompose in snow and ice. There was, however, power supply coming from
We, therefore, went about designing a system for this, with inputs from our friends abroad who have similar experiences.
The system was made here with certain necessary components from abroad. It was tested (!) to every one`s satisfaction. We called the buyer and gave him a practical demonstration (!).
The buyer was happy with the results and so the system was packed and handed over to him for dispatch to a destination unknown to us because anything relating to the armed forces located in remote/border areas is confidential.
The last we heard from the buyer was that it was installed and working.
" The incinerator is functioning extremely well and meeting all the requirements of Gazette of India notification. The Strength of the equipment lies in its easy handling, economy in treating bio-medical waste and meeting all criteria control test of PCB Karnataka "
