Haat’s Marine Incinerator – DGQA Regn.

Haat model SWR Marine Incinerator, along with our other incinerators and shredders, designed, developed and made in line with the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, has received the approval from the authorities.

The Directorate General of Quality Assurance, Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has just issued the Registration Certificate, after verification of the extensive quality documentation and inspection of Haat’s facilities by the officers of DGQA.

It enables Haat to take part in bids issued by various establishments of the Navy for the requirement of Marine Incinerators. These special incinerators were so far procured from overseas manufacturers, as no Indian manufacturer possessed IMO certification for this product, which is an essential basic requirement for the organisation to be recognized as a manufacturer of this specialty item of equipment meeting the standards laid down under the regulations of International Maritime Organisation.

According to available information, Haat is perhaps the only Indian manufacturer to obtain the IMO type certificate from DNV-GL Norway in the year 2016. This happened after a year of design and development of the product and several rounds of testing by this International Testing Agency. The tests included:

-                  Continuous operation of the incinerator for a period of 6 hours at an operating temperature of 900°C

-                  Emissions

-                  Capacity verification (both liquid and solid wastes)

-                  Simulating conditions of a sailing ship at our Works to see if the incinerator system meets these demanding conditions (pitching and rolling)

-                  Control system interlocks

The SWR marine incinerator is designed to handle both liquid and solid wastes simultaneously. It has a safe manual or hydraulic charging door for the solid waste and complete liquid waste feeding system including waste tank and pumps, along with ejector, fan and control panel, all mounted conveniently on a single skid or containerised where needed. Additions/modifications in this can be made to suit particular requirements of a ship if required.

It is a jacketed design with a single fan providing combustion air, cooling air and ejector air all at the same time, ensuring negative pressure in the chambers and low skin temperature for the incinerator.

It is completely automatic requiring no human machine intervention, except while charging solid waste, making life easy for users.

Haat’s Marine Incinerators are already working in the Central Electricity Board’s on-shore liquid waste treatment plant in Mauritius and in the far eastern island nation of Vanuatu for on-shore disposal of ship’s waste oil, catering to the ships passing through this region, needing to offload their waste for safe disposal.

We are sure the Ship yards, Coast Guards, shipping companies will now be able to procure the Marine Incinerators from within the country at affordable prices, with faster deliveries and service at their door step.
