Haat’s garment waste incinerator project was for Comfit Composite knit Ltd, who is one of the leading garments manufacturers in Bangladesh.  Comfit is a continuous supplier to some retail giants in Europe like H&M, C&A, Primark, Kik, Engelbert Strauss, Auchan, etc.  

 

A team of officials from the company visited us to inspect our infrastructure and to make us understand their particular problem.  The problem was an ever-increasing huge pile of cloth off-cuts remaining after making the garments. This will not decompose easily; neither can it be sold as waste for fear of misuse; nor can it be allowed to accumulate as it occupies large spaces.  A huge waste pile is also a big eye-sore, particularly when clients come to visit the unit.

 

The waste that they brought with them to Haat’s factory was incinerated in their presence. They noticed that the fuel requirement was very low because the waste had enough calorific value.

 

Although non-hazardous, the client

still preferred air pollution control equipment and a tall stack with their double chamber incinerator. This was offered in the form of a wet venturi scrubbing system.

 

The project was concluded and the incinerator system made as per schedule and shipped to Chittagong Port in time.

 

Our installation and commissioning engineer visited the site thereafter once the site readiness checklist was sent by the client. He completed the work to the satisfaction of all and was rewarded with some brand new t-shirts fresh off the assembly line!

 

The impression he left with the client was that the incinerator supplied by Haat was not only of good quality with emissions well below the limits, their service was also prompt and good.  It was a pleasure for Haat to do one more incinerator project with the pleasant people in Bangladesh, whose hard work has seen their economy booming in the last few years, more so due to their adherence to usage of high quality equipment and to protection of the environment.
