CASE STUDY PAINT FUMES FROM A CAN MANUFACTURING PROCESS
Gulf Cans Industries CANCO, a company which is part of a group with forays into many industries, approached us for a Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) for a new can manufacturing facility that they were setting up in Mussafah Industrial Area in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Their plant would consist of 2 fully automatic lines for manufacturing of aluminium cans for their various clients.
The total flow expected to enter the RTO was around 20,000 m3/h and the critical factor was that Haat?s fan would have to have sufficient draught to extract fumes from various process exhausts. The fan needed to be supplied with a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) to optimize extraction based on pressure drop. Operation of the entire plant had to be fully automatic and needed to meet local Abu Dhabi Environmental Regulations for the emission of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds).

During the pre-despatch inspection, the Gulf Cans inspector was impressed with the equipment presented to him for his approval.
After receipt of the RTO at the site, Haat deputed their mechanical engineer for the supervision of installation after which an electrical / instrumentation engineer completed the commissioning.
