Hospital Waste Incinerators for Missionary Hospitals, Defence and UNDP

Haat has supplied a considerable number of incinerators for hospitals for disposal of biomedical waste. When the Draft Biomedical Waste (Handling & Management) Rules were introduced in the mid-nineties, there was no mandatory requirement of pollution control equipment as long as the air emission limits were complied with. The Rules were modified later on to include air pollution control systems and today, the CPCB Guidelines for Bio-Medical Waste Incinerators is common place.

When the draft rules were in place, we were approached by many hospitals and nursing homes, particularly from Kerala and from far off and remote areas in Bihar, U.P., etc., mostly by missionary hospitals.  And then there were requirements from Military hospitals in the country as well as common bio-medical waste management facilities.

Our model PD and GD incinerators have been installed and well appreciated by the users for a long time.

After the amendment, our incinerator models BP, PDR and LRD have been supplied along with APC and 30 metre stack and other required accessories.

The PD and GD incinerator models house two chambers within a common body and are provided with a single burner. This makes them really fuel efficient. The ingenious design of these incinerators is such that the products of combustion, after initial incineration of the waste, travel under the hearth/grate repeatedly and are burnt several times by the burner flame. This results in NO VISIBLE SMOKE OR ODOUR. For these reasons these models were preferred

by hospitals (and are preferred even now in countries like Afghanistan, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Chad, Ivory Coast, Senegal and far eastern countries like Vietnam, Cambodia, etc.)

With regard to the BP, PDR and LRD incinerator models, these are with 2 burners with downstream APC equipment as per the amended rules and they have the standard features as per the notification. These include:

• Ram loader

• Primary & Secondary Combustion chambers

• Emergency stack

• Wet venturi scrubber

• Mist eliminator

• ID fan

• 30 m stack

• PLC control panel

• Portable emission monitoring/CEMS

• Data recording device

The segments of healthcare industry include:

• Missionary hospitals

• Charitable healthcare institutions

• Defence hospitals

• Private Hospitals

• Common biomedical waste facilities

• Healthcare centres for tribals

• UNDP,  USAID

In terms of regions, the State of Kerala takes the cake because of the extensive network of health care facilities provided by many missionary hospitals and also the dedication and commitment of the Keralite nursing community to this cause.

International agencies such as UNDP, USAID and others even now prefer our PD, GD and the newly designed ADR incinerator models for biomedical waste in remote areas in several countries in Africa.

Testimonials.
