Hazardous Waste Incinerator - Petrochemical / Plastics

A government owned company from the Middle East required an incinerator, as part of their new R & D centre being proposed in India. The EPC contractor who won the bid was a well-known group in the country and we received an RFQ from them.

Since incinerators were a new subject to the EPC company, they arranged for the short-listed manufacturers to make a presentation to the end user and his consultant. The user was satisfied with our presentation and made a visit to our factory to evaluate us and also see the Common Hazardous Waste Incinerator facility that had been running in our premises for a while.

After satisfying themselves with our capabilities and ensuring that our bid was acceptable, a contract was placed in our favour.

The waste to be disposed of was hazardous aqueous waste, organic solvent, waste oil and solid waste generated by the R & D Centre.

One important consideration for placing the contract to Haat was Haat`s confirmation that the emissions would meet Euro norms. This is what was required by the end user as they were following the Euro norms in their own native country. Accordingly the configuration was frozen which included equipment for particulate control to the extent of less than 10 mg/m3 as against the Indian limits of 50 mg/m3.

The equipment was made, assembled and offered for inspection. This was carried out by a team consisting of end user, consultants and third party inspector.

After clearing the equipment for dispatch, the machine was sent to the site, installed under our supervision and commissioned.

After commissioning, the end user requested us to take up operation and maintenance of the plant for at least 3 years. Although this is not our cup of tea, yet due to proximity of the plant, we agreed to the proposal.

After completing the task, the plant was handed over to the client, who is running it to their satisfaction and we hope the equipment will give them service for many more years.
