Incinerator for a Gold Mine

Incinerator for a Gold Mine

From the Garden City in the Indian Sub-continent, let us venture west to the Dark Continent and see what adventure and wild life await man!

Take a look at Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa. It is just 200 miles from the equator and what is amazing is to see a white (ice) topped volcanic giant, which has been dormant for a while.

And then there is the Serengeti National Park, Africa’s most famous wild life reserve, renowned for its predators and prey with the Great Migration of two million grazers. The park is a world heritage site and is the most celebrated wild life reserve in the world.

Apart from this, Tanzania is known for its vast quantities and types of resources.  These include gold, iron ore, nickel, copper, cobalt, silver, diamond, tanzanite, ruby, garnet, limestone, phosphate, coal, uranium, graphite, sand and dimension stones. The United Kingdom is the largest foreign investor in this industry in Tanzania followed by India.  Tanzania is the 4th largest gold producer in Africa after South Africa, Ghana and Mali.

We are talking about Tanzania for a different reason here.

We have so far supplied incinerators and furnaces for recovery of precious metals such as gold, platinum, palladium, etc. to jewellery and pharma companies.  For the first time, we secured a contract for supply of an ultra-efficient incinerator to a gold mine in Tanzania.

The waste is hazardous in nature, including oily wastes and the configuration includes, apart from the incinerator, a gas cooler, bag filter, acid gas scrubber and the like.  We are glad the customer chose this highly emission-efficient incinerator configuration because the emissions will be way below those required as per African standards/requirements. The reason for this can be found in their desire to get an incinerator which produces clean air in a dusty atmosphere!

This is our third supply to Tanzania, but the gold mine is perhaps this is the first African user to choose such a high-end incinerator configuration and we congratulate them.  The project is getting started very shortly and we hope to complete the delivery and ship the equipment well ahead of the time given.

Our engineers will also get to visit Tanzania to commission and hand over the project to the gold mine in due course and will perhaps be able to see Mount Kilimanjaro and maybe make a visit to the Serengeti National Park.
