Incinerator for Christian Medical College, Vellore

The Christian Medical College & Hospital (known earlier as American Hospital) is one of the oldest hospitals in India. A totally service-oriented, non-profit hospital, it was established by the British in the year 1900 with, initially, only basic healthcare facilities. . Today it has become a huge set up with 1500 beds and multi-specialities. CMC has steadily extended its services from Tamil Nadu to Andhra Pradesh and the nation, to Southeast Asian countries, Africa and globally, in different ways.  When its founder Dr. Ida Scudder, or ‘Aunt Ida’ as she was known, was 77 years old, it was already a highly reputed hospital with 600 beds, with a total medical and non-medical staff of around 600.  CMC Vellore on any single day catered to more than 7000 outpatients, looked after around 2000 in-patients, total staff strength of 10,000 of whom 2,000 are doctors, 320 are nurses and teaching staff.

It has a huge range of different medical specialities, with advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services, alongside primary and secondary level care for local communities, catering to a little more than 100,000 Inpatients and 22,50,000 Outpatients in 2018-19.  It attracts patients from 78 countries, a large majority travelling all the way from Bangladesh to South India.  The doctors in India say `we treat and HE cures`. In this hospital, they do both as the trust people have is more than just belief.

We at Haat were fortunate to come in contact with CMC way back in the year 2000. They wished to set up their own incinerator as per the rules prevailing then. They evaluated many products and finally decided to go in for a Haat model PD 35 incinerator with 30 m stack. The PD 35 at that time was the largest in its range with a capacity of 200 kg/h.

We delivered the machine in time and got it installed with the chimney. The customer was happy with the `smokeless, odourless` emissions from the system and used it for a fairly long time until they decided to send the waste to a common facility.

We are happy to have associated with CMC Vellore who continue to do yeoman service to the sick from all over the world.
