ISO Certification in Incinerator Manufacture and Incinerator Operation & Maintenance

Haat got its first ISO 9001 certificate in the year 2000. This was for their Quality Management System. In the year 2008, Haat received ISO 14001 for their Environmental Management System and OHSAS 18001 for their Occupational Health and Safety System. Subsequently all these became integrated into one Integrated Management System.

The QMS certificate enabled putting in black and white what was already in place but now streamlined. To give an example, Work Procedures for every activity were prepared, discussed with operators and implemented without exception. The QMS also mandates `traceability` of raw materials, documents and final products. This helped us to prove to the client the source of materials purchased and where they were used, establishing beyond doubt the quality of inputs and output. The work procedures made possible the falling in line of any new employees with some initial training to carry on work without interruption.

Internal Audits that were conducted helped us to evaluate our work vis-a-viz the requirements, both in terms of finished goods as well as documentation and to rectify any drawbacks.

It was possible to set people into thinking of `new things` and `improved methods`, which resulted in `Continual Improvements` and this became a big motivating factor for the work force.

Regular and periodic Training on various work related subjects helped employees` skill development as they were able to further hone their skills constantly and it reflected in the quality of their improved work.

It was also possible to introduce MBO (Management by Objectives) for all employees at all levels as well as for the Management, which helped in planning and in the Company`s Mission and Vision. Achievers were encouraged and appreciated thru various motivational supports.

Implementation of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 was definitely a milestone in Haat`s history in as much as, we were able to set standards in regard to the following aspects for both Manufacturing and Operation & Maintenance of complex Incinerator Systems.

Safety: Employees in production as well as O & M were made to become aware first of the need for one`s safety at work place for which all necessary safety equipment and PPEs are provided. Their work was subject to constant supervision and correction, to eliminate possibility of any accident or incident. Consequently the accident/incident rate in both these activities has been drastically reduced.

HIRA study: Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment was carried out for all machineries and processes, thus anticipating possible areas of safety concern. These have then been ably controlled to prevent any accident.

Aspect Impact Study: Any and all process activities that would affect the environment were taken up periodically (say once in 6 months) and areas requiring rectification were identified. Examples are noise level in blasting area, maintaining constant temperature in paint booth for curing the paint, provision of guards for various machines to avoid injury, etc.

Saving natural resources: Reduction in the use of metals, power, water and air was planned and implemented, as non-renewable resources have to be handled carefully. This resulted in less energy consumption as well less scrap generation.

No doubt, all these helped us to streamline production and O & M processes and no special efforts were made to implement ISO requirements, as these procedures were followed as a matter of routine.

On the other hand, our clients, particularly safety and environment-conscious organisations in the Oil & Gas fields looking for specialized incinerator packages, from within the country as well as from outside, were very happy with our implementation of the ISO standards successfully for nearly 2 decades. This paved the way for customer comfort in dealing with an incinerator manufacturer who has all the required standards and rules in place and who has been following these for many years in the manufacture of incinerator packages.

This is one of the reasons for users the world over to recognize and choose Haat Incinerator for its quality, its safety features, as well as due to Haat`s concern for a clean environment.
