Cable Incinerator for copper recovery

A cable manufacturing company in Mysore needed to recover copper from their rejected insulated cables, because of quality issues. After inspecting the facilities, we requisitioned about 50 kg of the rejects and subjected these to tests in our common facility.

The results were good, in the sense there was no visible smoke and all the copper could be recovered. There was, however, some amount of SPM released, but it was well below the standard at that time, viz. 150 mg/Nm3.

We suggested to the client to install the incinerator along with a dust collector and chimney. The contract was signed and the machine installed. We invited the authorities to see the performance of the system, at the same time arranging for a lab test of SPM and other parameters. These were all found to be well within the prevailing standards.

The client was able to recover and reuse the copper which is an expensive raw material for their production.

Thus the project became self-sustaining, with a very satisfied customer appreciating the system supplied and its usefulness.
