MARINE INCINERATOR FOR A TYRE MANUFACTURING COMPANY!
We received from out of the blue an enquiry from Papua New Guinea for a Marine Incinerator. This was surprising because we had only supplied quite some time back a small incinerator to this island nation and that too for medical waste. This new enquiry was from one of the largest tyre manufacturers in the world!
The application/waste was similar to a marine incinerator but the incinerator was to be located on shore. Tyre manufacturing machines produce waste oil, primarily generated as a by-product of their heavy-duty mechanical, hydraulic and lubrication systems rather than from the rubber itself.
In a tyre production plant, machines operate under extreme pressures, high temperatures, and highly contaminated environments. This accelerates oil degradation, leading to regular oil changes and the generation of industrial waste oil.
Waste oil generated in different equipment such as diesel generators, mixers, extruders and curing presses have to be disposed of safely, complying with regulations. The different waste oils are centrifuge emulsified so that they have a good viscosity and free flow.
Similarly grease of various densities, viscosities and form containing abrasive particles are also to be considered while designing the equipment.
The contract was finalized after a few months and the configuration required was a 3-chamber design to comply with emission requirements along with an ID fan, sludge pump, instrumentation, burners etc. The skid-mounted incinerator was made and put to a 3-day performance testing.
The incinerator was then subjected to a third-party inspection where again the equipment configuration, performance and emissions were tested and recorded.
After clearing the inspection, the equipment was despatched to the client.
It is a fully automatic incinerator requiring no manual intervention and we do not see any problem in remotely commissioning the equipment and training the operators.
