How Do Planning & Checks & Balances Help in Incinerator Manufacture?
“Where no plan is laid, where the disposal of time is surrendered merely to the chance of incident, chaos will soon reign” -
thus spake Victor Hugo, the French writer.
We at Haat are fully aware of these golden words. In fact every professional has to understand, absorb and use this piece of advice in his day to day activity.
Our day begins with various plans and ends with a review of the achievements vis-à-vis plans.
These are:
• Design plans
• Production plans
• Project plans/schedules
• Procurement plans
• QA plans
All the above plans and schedules are made, implemented, reviewed and validated for every project. This helps us to maintain quality and delivery commitments made to our clients.
It is pertinent to mention an observation made by a client who visited us sometime back. He was referring to an incinerator company in the North of the country which they went to evaluate. They had to regrettably reject this company because, to use his own words “there was chaos and confusion, no order, no planning and no control”
To implement the plans we have introduced certain checks and controls:
• Material testing
• Drawing control
• Production Hold points
• Design changes
• Daily review of major activities
All incoming raw materials, no doubt carry test certificates, but are still subject to laboratory tests to confirm compliance to standards before the work is taken up.
Manufacturing drawings are made, reviewed, authorized and issued to the shops. The QC dept introduces various `hold points` to ensure the production staff themselves inspect the in-process work and offer it to QC engineers for their inspection and approval, before proceeding to the next stage.
Any design changes to the existing drawing/model is made in writing with necessary revision number to the drawing and approved before carrying out the change.
The incinerator project schedule, procurement plan and production plan are reviewed daily and any concerns are addressed then and there to ensure timely completion of project.
While planning is the foundation, a system of checks and balances in the form of controls gives the required shape to the project and leads to its desired conclusion. These steps taken in the manufacture of incinerators ensure a system that gives many years of trouble-free performance.
