Continual Improvements in Incinerator Manufacture

Lots of emphasis is given in the quality management systems for `continual improvements`. The reason for this is that people are expected to show while at work:

                 Enterprise

                 Enthusiasm

                 Imagination

                 Inventiveness

Change is what will bring about:

                 better designs

                 lower costs

                 better performance

                 greater productivity

                 ensure safety and environmental compliance

We have in our midst, a lot of people who show good imagination and inventiveness in bringing about changes for the better. Take for example some of the changes listed below and the results!

1)                Refractory: We were using conventional refractories until we realized these required re-lining of the machines every so often. We switched to `customized castable refractories` which now last for 10 to 15 years! No maintenance cost to the end user plus durability and reliability.

2)                Painting: Our machines were being painted using old methods and we realized this was not good enough because of poor paint life. We switched to a far better surface preparation in-house which not only increased the surface area to be painted but also provided better grip for the paint. This resulted in paint life dramatically improving considerably.

3)                Equipment configuration: From standard wet venturi type scrubbers, we launched semi-dry type scrubbing and were able to achieve far better emissions from the system.

4)                Refractory lining: We switched to using `moulds` while pouring refractory which gives excellent dimensional accuracy and finish, as opposed to manual application.

5)                We save water by rain water harvesting.

6)                We use 3D software for designing which helps iron out glitches at site during installation and commissioning.

7)                Our welders are qualified under ASME  up to 6G, giving better quality work and confidence to the buyer.

8)                Some of our models are skid-mounted which make them easily portable requiring no foundation.

9)                Constant review of product range and improving designs of existing ones and introducing new models.

10)             New production equipment like `Column & Boom welding system` to improve productivity, quality and time.

Our people keep looking for improvement all the time. In the Management Review Meetings, one of the main subjects is ` continual improvement`

This is always aimed at `Total Customer Satisfaction`.
