Internal Tests in Incinerator Manufacture
In order that the finished incinerator performs as per design expectations, certain internal tests are absolutely necessary. These will make the job of the commissioning team as well as the end user easy in commissioning and operating respectively.
Let`s look at some of these tests:
1) Raw materials: All raw materials are accepted with a test certificate to prove their chemistry and strength. Additionally, samples are sent to an independent laboratory to reconfirm the values. The thickness of steel or stainless steels is measured with the help of ultrasonic thickness meter.
2) Refractory test: Here again, the test certificate gives chemistry and strength. We carry out the CCS test to reconfirm its strength. A profile depth gauge is used to know and correct, if necessary, the lining thickness.
3) Fans: Both ID and FD fans are tested either at the manufacturer`s place or in our premises for run test, where the flow rate, vibration, noise level and performance tests are carried out.
4) Motor run test: Vibration, current, insulation resistance, noise level and bearing temperature are tested. Analog tachometer is used to measure the RPM of the motor.
5) DP test: Most of the weld joints, in particularly tanks and pipelines are subjected to DP test to eliminate welding flaws.
6) Hydro/Pneumatic test: Design pressure is exerted into the pipelines looking for leakage in weld joints.
7) WFT and DFT test: When paint is still wet, WFT is done to find out wet film coating thickness. When it is dry, again DFT test is carried out to know the actual thickness against requirement and correct, if necessary.
8) Chamber temperature test: The temperature inside the incinerator chamber or the motor bearing temperature is measured by infra-red thermometer, which is a non-contact type, to ensure compliance to specifications.
9) Incinerator chamber pressure: This is tested with the help of digital monometer or U tube monometer to understand the extent of positive or negative pressure in the chamber.
10) Run test: When the incinerator is assembled after completion, a run test of various components, such as burners, fans, pumps, instruments, etc. are subjected to various run tests to ensure their compliance to design requirements
11) FAT/SAT: While all the above tests are carried out inside the incinerator manufacturing premises, a FAT within the factory or a SAT at the site, are carried out based on test plans to satisfy the user of compliance to their specifications.
All the above tests are carried out invariably in all our incinerator projects, big or small, keeping in mind Customer Satisfaction.
