As idle as a Painted Ship up on a Painted Ocean

Thus wrote Samuel Taylor Coleridge, a contemporary and close associate of William Wordsworth, in his famous poem ‘The Rime of the Ancient Mariner’.

We recall this famous line in the light of the present scenario when Bengaluru city looks like "as idle as a painted city upon a painted map of India".  The hope that people had, in particular, industries and IT companies, is lost. The lockdown is to continue till 3rd May which is necessary to control the pandemic.

There is another famous line from Coleridge in the same poem:

“Water, water everywhere; nor any drop to drink”

“Work is aplenty everywhere, but there’s neither anyone to do it nor are there materials”

We understand the extension has been done considering the continued spread of the virus and the health of the people and it is a good decision.

What we are wondering is:

How and when are we going to complete the nearly-finished incinerator projects on hand?

How and when are we going to get raw materials and bought-outs to complete these projects?

When will our sub-vendors be allowed to open shops and deliver goods ready to be dispatched?

When will our exports be permitted, as there are shipments pending for at least 5 countries?

When will we get some money flow into our account so that we can meet our commitments?

Since the lockdown is extended till 3rd May, will the government also extend the moratorium of EMIs and bank interests by another 3 months at least?

Why doesn’t the government assist MSMEs financially?

Why don’t corporates provide some grants to MSMEs so that they can supply incinerators to municipalities, hospitals, IT companies, etc?

And finally, who will answer our queries and when?
