TRUTH IS STRANGER THAN FICTION!

It is said `Truth is stranger than fiction’!  Some of the names given below may appear fictional, but are true, as each one of them represents the name of a place or location or country.  We are sure many of us have not heard these names in our day-to-day life, business or personal.

  - Vanuatu, Dangote, Walu Bay, Paraguay, Togo, Bangui, Geita, Santa Domingo, South Pars, Dakar and Barkan?

Vanuatu is a country of islands located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean, consisting of a chain of 13 principal and many smaller islands located about 500 miles west of Fiji and 1,100 miles east of Australia.

Dangote is an oil refinery that is under construction in Lekki, Nigeria.  When complete, it will have the capacity to process about 650,000 barrels per day of crude oil, making it the largest single-train refinery in the world.  Dangote Refinery is Africa's largest oil refinery, as well as the world's largest single-train facility.

Walu Bay is a place with a very small population in the province of Central Fiji which is located in the continent/region of Oceania.   It is located on the southeast coast of the island of Viti Levu, in the Rewa Province, Central Division.

South Pars is a gas field located in the Iranian waters of the Persian Gulf and forms the northern half of a supergiant offshore gas field called the North Dome field or the North field in Qatar.  Estimated to hold eight percent of the world’s total gas reserves and almost approximately 50% of Iran’s domestic gas reserves, South Pars is considered to be the world’s biggest gas field by reserves.

Dakar is the capital of Senegal in West Africa. Senegal is bordered by Mauritania in the north, Mali to the east, Guinea to the southeast, and Guinea-Bissau to the southwest.

These are but a representative sample of names with which Haat is associated. There are many more equally strange names of places, but in this blog we are restricting ourselves to this partial list.

How are we associated with these places? In every one of these places, you will find a Haat incinerator at work!

  • Vanuatu has a Marine incinerator for on-shore disposal of wastes off-loaded by ships passing thru.
  • Dangote refinery will have a Thermal Oxidiser working round the clock shortly.
  • Walu Bay has an incinerator installed for bio-security.
  • Paraguay has an animal incinerator.
  • Togo has a bio-medical waste incinerator.
  • Bangui has a number of containerised biomedical waste incinerators which are being installed throughout the Central African Republic.
  • Geita has a PDR model industrial waste incinerator under installation for a gold mine.
  • Santa Domingo has a small medical incinerator.
  • South Pars has a camp waste incinerator working for the past 14 years.

Strange names! Different applications! But what is not strange is the presence of a Haat incinerator!
