The importance of infrastructure & backup equipment in an incinerator manufacturing facility

When we set up the incinerator manufacturing plant in Jigani Industrial Area, Bangalore in the year 1996 (when this was part of another company) we realized the importance of having back up as well as lifting equipment, as the refractory-lined machines would obviously weigh a ton (so to speak). We, therefore, installed a power generator of 125 KVA capacity and a Fork Lift truck of 3.5 ton capacity in the year 1997.

Within a very short period, we found the lifting equipment was totally inadequate, especially when handling large sized incinerators. Even though such machines were of modular construction, each module would weigh a minimum 5 to 10 tons depending on the size. We decided, therefore, to install an Overhead Travelling Crane of 25 tons capacity in Bay 3, which was carried out in the year      .

Simultaneously within the shop floor in Bay 2, where rolling and welding are done, for facilitating movement from one area to another, we installed another overhead crane of 5 tons capacity.  This was also followed by another overhead crane of same capacity parallel to the 25 ton crane. The old work horse Fork Lift truck was replaced with a new one.

The previous power generator was also replaced with a 250 KVA generator in the year 2011.

Our work force is happy with the above infrastructure because:

We do not have to rely on hired equipment for our daily needs

The scheduled work can be carried out without delay.

The factory can continue to work non-stop 2 shifts or 3 shifts even, during power outage.

We are able to deliver the ordered incinerator equipment on time.

The overall benefit is TOTAL CUSTOMER SATISFACTION.
